Pazhavangadi Ganesha Saranam....

Pazhavangadi Maha Ganapathi Temple is one of the famous Lord Ganapathi temples in Kerala, situated at East Fort, Thiruvananthapuram. Located at the heart of Trivandrum city, the temple is easily accessible to devotees from far and wide. Here ganapathi is worshipped as 'Yudha Ganapathi', who saves warriors during ancient days. The original Ganesha idol installed in the temple was worshipped by a soldier of Travancore Army stationed at Padmanabhapuram. In 1795 A.D, when the capital of Travancore was shifted to Thiruvananthapuram, the garrison was also transferred and the idol was also carried along with it.

As it was once owned and maintained by the Travancore Brigade, the temple is now maintained by the Indian Army, after the integration of Travancore Army with the Indian Forces.

Coconut-cracking (for removing obstacles and fulfillment of desires), Ganapathi Homams of various types (like Ashtadravya ganapathi homam, Koottu ganapathi homam etc.), Appam and Modakam offering are the major offerings to Lord Ganapati at Pazhavangadi Maha Ganapathi temple.

Other deities worshipped at Pazhavangadi Maha Ganapati Temple are Lord Ayyappa, Goddess Durga, Nagaraja, and Brahmarakshasu. Devotees can also see bewitching paintings and astounding carvings at the temple which readily focusses on the 32 forms of Lord Ganapati, inside the temple complex.

Vinayaka Chaturthi, Ganesha Jayanthi, Varad Chaturti and Sankashti Chaturti are the main festivals at Pazhavangadi Maha Ganapathy Temple. Special worships are performed on other festival days including Thiruvonam, Vijaya Dasmi, Aayilyam, Thirkkarthika, Thiruvathira, Makara Vilakku, Maha Shivaratri, Vishu etc.
